Ghosting

Can anyone help me understand ghosting? I am struggling with this as an older woman who will need to be dating regularly.

If you go through a 6 month long pursuit game, to share great sex, to then be ghosted without another word, wtf? Was it that bad, or is it more that was all the person was seeking and just put a stupid amount of effort (aka nice words) in for one night?

What is wrong with people or what is wrong with me?

I feel angry because this is something I 100% predicted and yet here I am, feeling shittier than I wanted.

Also, no offense to anyone who hates communicating, but why can’t you just say something? Would YOU want to be left ghosted? How about a “hey, thanks so much for that. I’m not interested in anything further but had a good time”?!?! ANYTHING OTHER THAN NOTHING?!?! It feels incredible disrespectful.
