How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?
I love this question!!!!!! #deep thoughts
For me, these passage of time continues to influence how I look at life in major ways. I constantly think about being younger and being told the classic “you’ll understand when you’re older” and how annoyed I would get at that statement; however, the older I get, the more I realize the accuracy. It’s not really about the knowledge, it’s truly about the time and how people perceive it. The time between birthdays and holidays used to feel like an eternity. If you ask today, I’d tell you I’m traumatized that Christmas is already only 10 months away.
Once I had kids, the concept of time went into fast forward mode. Hours and days blend into weeks and then combined with when COVID struck, it turned into a weird twilight zone and it hasn’t seemed to stop ever since.
I think aging also gives me a lot of perspective. Having the fortune of aging with my parents is wonderful but it also has given me a different view on life. There’s that constant talk of “I’m getting old”and then one day you’re ACTUALLY old. When you think hard about it, the cycle and nature of life is so beautiful yet depressing and strange at the same time. Aging may be difficult at times, but it is important to remind yourself that it sure as fuck beats the alternative!
