How many of you grew up going to a community pool all summer? If you said yes, let’s take a second to reminisce on the good times!
When I think of the pool, I think of summer, sunshine, diving boards, crinkle fries, and candy! The snack shack at my community pool growing up was epic- they had every piece of candy that any child from the 90s could ever want, and that was my heaven.
The pool makes me think of the swim lessons I took with my cousin and one of my best childhood friends. Every morning during the week we’d have practice early- when the pool was still shaded and totally freezing. THAT was my least favorite start to the AM (no wonder I’m still not a morning person!).
Growing up in NJ and now living in PA, the seasonal summer months really grow your appreciation for pools and pool ownership. To this day, despite the tremendous pain in the ass that I’m sure it is to own one, I would die to have a pool in my backyard! I’ll save that fantasy for my luxurious future.
Any way, I’m sitting at the pool today with my two children and all I can think is that I hope they have memories like this when they’re older. Even though I’m a working mom, I will dedicate as much time as possible next year taking time off and using the weekends to create wonderful summer memories for my family. Cheers to community pool goers everywhere. I hope everyone who sees this takes it as their memo to carve out some time to hit the pool in these last few weeks of summer and enjoy!
What were your summers like growing up? What was your favorite part about going to the pool?!
