Picking bridesmaids was easy for me. I wanted my sister, my three closest friends from college, my good friend in PA, and my three cousins to be by my side on my big day! I also wanted to include my three, young nieces in the party as flower girls.
I met my three college friends for a night in New Jersey and asked them to be my bridesmaids over dinner and drinks. I asked my sister and her two children one summer night when we were having dinner of their deck. I wrote my sister a letter with the classic, ” I can’t wait to marry my mista’ with my sista’” line, and gave the girls little notes asking to them to be my flower girls. We were all so excited!
I met my friend in PA at my previous place of employment, which also happened to be my first job in Pennsylvania. She was a mentor to me, and we really clicked. She is a lot like an older sister in my mind, and my first friend in my new home state. My one cousin was a senior in high school, the other was a junior in college, and the last is two years older than me. I was far away from everyone except my sister and my girl in PA. I gave everyone- or almost everyone a be-dazzled initial of either their first or last name.
My husband asked his brother, his best friend since sixth grade, two of his college roommates, and his best bud from travel soccer, to be in his party. I didn’t care that I was going to have more people on my side than his; we had an awesome crew!
