We knew we wanted to get married in the spring. Sometime between May and June was ideal. (Now remember I said I like to torment myself with the over thinking? Well, here we go again.) Me being me, I was fully aware that my cousin was planning to get married in the spring, along with a few other people I knew. It made it difficult for me to plan; I didn’t want anything to overlap with my wedding. I wanted everyone I love there- no conflicts. I kept checking with my friends and immediate family, who were very reassuring that everything would be alright.
My family is large and Italian, so word flies quickly. My mom got in touch with my cousin’s mom and we were able to get a date in mid-June for their wedding. June was off the table.
Weekends in May. Hmmm. Looking over our options, the only date that stood out was May 5, a Saturday. Cinco de Mayo. Nass and I love going to On the Border. Not even joking, it used to be a thing. We’ve calmed down a bit now, but literally could down their frozen sangria swirl any day. We had a few back-up dates, but that would be perfect.
Working with our event coordinator, I immediately asked if the date was available. She told me that she had a couple holding the date and would check with them that day and get back to me. Later on I got an email saying the couple couldn’t move forward and we could reserve May 5. It was decided! Cinco de Silwany!
